Learn More About Go Forward
Go Forward follows Julia, a young woman whose love of horses has shaped her ambitions since childhood. After earning her Bachelor of Education Degree with Honors, she is finally free to pursue the equestrian life she has always wanted. Rather than settling into a conventional path, she accepts a horse-related position near Memphis and begins building a career around riding, training, foxhunting, and showing.
A Life Built Around Horses
Julia enters a world that is demanding, exciting, and often unpredictable. Her work requires discipline, confidence, and a willingness to adapt as she learns the personalities of the horses in her care and the expectations of the people around her.
Her new life includes:
- Caring for and exercising quality horses
- Preparing horses for hunting and competition
- Working within the traditions of foxhunting
- Adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings and relationships
- Making choices that test her independence and judgment
More Than an Equestrian Story
Although horses are at the heart of the novel, Go Forward also explores family, forgiveness, ambition, relationships, and personal growth. Julia carries unresolved feelings from home, especially surrounding the loss of her mother and her relationship with her father. As her life changes, she is forced to confront both the past and the future she is trying to create.
Following the Road Ahead
At its core, Go Forward is about choosing a direction and continuing on despite uncertainty. Julia’s story begins with a long-held dream, but the path ahead brings challenges she never expected. Through each experience, she learns what it means to keep moving toward the life she has chosen.
